The Institute for Optical Science at Ohio State hosts National Lab Director, Kim Budil

Dr. Kimberly Budil, Director of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), visited Ohio State to share her experience as the FIRST WOMAN in history to hold this position! Budil leads LLNL where over 8,000 employees work to use innovative science and technology to address national security concerns.

Kim Budil holds a Ph.D. in engineering and applied science from the University of California, Davis, and a Bachelor's degree in physics from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Budil shared her career path with Ohio State students and faculty to offer new perspectives on her current work and how she got there. 

Prior to her talk, Budil met with students and faculty and answered questions that gave more insight into her journey from the University of Illinois at Chicago to the LLNL. During the student social, students were gifted free, three-year student memberships to Optica!
