Professor Agostini Connects with China’s Leading Universities
In the beginning of November, Prof. Agostini traveled across China, visiting top universities and engaging with students and faculty through lectures and academic exchanges.
His journey began in Tianjin, where he visited Nankai University. His visit included a meeting with the university’s president, Prof. Yulu Chen, followed by lunch with the president. The highlight of the day was his lecture on "From Photoionization Delays to Photography of Electrons: Genesis and Applications of Attosecond Pulses." Before the lecture, a special ceremony was held, where Professor Agostini was presented with a Visiting Professor certificate and took part in the unveiling of the Pierre Agostini International Research Center for Ultrafast Optics and Applications at the Jinnan campus.
In Beijing, Professor Agostini visited Peking University, one of China’s most respected institutions, where he gave another lecture to students and researchers.
A special part of his trip was a visit to Dunhuang, a historic city along the ancient Silk Road including the famous ancient Jade Gate Pass. Known for its cultural history and scenic beauty, this stop allowed Professor Agostini to take a break from his academic schedule and explore an important part of China’s heritage.
The last stop of his trip was Shanghai, where he visited ShanghaiTech University and delivered another lecture for students and faculty.
Throughout his travels, Professor Agostini visited four cities – Tianjin, Beijing, Dunhuang, and Shanghai – experiencing both China’s academic world and its rich cultural traditions.
