i-ALFA is the Institute for Attosecond Laser Facility (ALFA).

The ALFA Facility will become an international joint use and research center for attosecond science. ALFA brings together cutting-edge light source technology that has been cultivated by Japanese researchers and engineers over many years, and will house four types of synchronized attosecond lasers to provide optimal attosecond optical pulses customized for each application to users in science, engineering, and industry both in Japan and overseas.

As of October 2024, the Attosecond Laser Facility (ALFA) Prototype Facility has been established.
