Physics with Trapped Charged Particles

Applications are now open for the 6th Physics with Trapped Charged Particles School, to be held January 11–22, 2027 in Les Houches, France.
Designed primarily for Ph.D. students and postdoctoral researchers, the school offers an intensive introduction to the physics of trapped charged particles, covering topics ranging from fundamental trap physics to applications in precision spectroscopy, quantum information, frequency standards, antimatter research, and non-neutral plasmas. The program includes lectures, tutorials, poster sessions, and a visit to CERN.
Participation is limited to approximately 55 attendees, and applicants may be selected based on the anticipated benefit of participation.

IOS Travel Support Available
IOS members may be eligible to apply for support through the Agostini/DiMauro Visiting Scholar & Travel Funds. The program provides up to $1,500 for student travel to conferences, workshops, and related scholarly activities.
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be affiliated with an IOS member research group.
- Be attending the school as a student participant.
- Submit a travel funding request through the Agostini/DiMauro Visiting Scholar & Travel Funds program.
