Ohio Optical Frontiers Showcase Brings Together Regional Optics Community

On Friday, May 2, 2025, the Institute for Optical Science (IOS) hosted its first Ohio Optical Frontiers Showcase at the ElectroScience Laboratory. Designed to foster collaboration across Ohio’s vibrant optics community, the evening brought together researchers from OSU and regional institutions for a lively mix of presentations, lab tours, and networking.
The event opened with guided tours of the ElectroScience Lab, followed by a series of engaging research talks from invited speakers including Chris Ball (ESL), Andrew Sarangan (University of Dayton), Steven Olmshenk (Denison University), Anil Patnaik (Air Force Institute of Technology), and 2023 Nobel Laureate Pierre Agostini (OSU). Guests also enjoyed a working dinner and social hour.
This was the first event of its kind hosted by IOS, and we look forward to building on its success with future gatherings that continue to strengthen our statewide research connections in optical science.
