OPTICA Student Chapter Hosts “Physics of Light” Workshop for Middle School Students

OPTICA Physics of LIght

Three weeks ago, the Ohio State University OPTICA Student Chapter hosted local middle school students for a hands-on Physics of Light workshop. The event featured games, live demonstrations, and interactive presentations designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of optics and photonics.

We thank all the student chapter officers and members who volunteered their time to make the workshop a success, especially Dina S. Eissa for coordinating with the school!

Special thanks to:

  • Pushkar Shirahatti, Katherine Indyk, Shramana Bera, and Ted Busch for preparing the presentations
  • Michael Hill for organizing the experiments
  • Reagan Massey for designing the games
  • Chelsea Kincaid for volunteering and supporting students during the experiments

The event was sponsored by the Institute for Optical Science.

What is the Institute for Optical Science?

The Institute for Optical Science is a community of multidisciplinary researchers studying the fundamental properties of light and harnessing these properties in practical applications for significant benefit to society.
