IOS Members Collaborate on Quantum Research and Secure Major Grant
The project received $1,148,105 in funding as part of the Ohio Federal Research Network (OFRN) Awards
We are excited to highlight a significant achievement by two IOS members who recently collaborated at our Ohio Optical Frontiers Showcase in May. Kevin Singh (The Ohio State University) and Steven Olmschenk (Denison University) have been awarded their first joint grant for groundbreaking research in quantum technology.
The project, titled “Photonic Interfaces for Atom-based Quantum Processors,” received $1,148,105 in funding as part of the Ohio Federal Research Network (OFRN) Round 7 awards, which allocated $10.198 million across seven collaborative projects. This initiative aims to advance quantum computing by developing photonic interfaces that enable scalable atom-based quantum processors.
In addition to their academic collaboration, Singh and Olmschenk are partnering with SRICO, Inc., as well as federal research partners at AFRL and NASA John Glenn Research Center, to push the boundaries of quantum technology.
This achievement underscores the power of collaboration within the IOS community and the impact of interdisciplinary partnerships in driving innovation.
